My Favorite Song
Reflection |
Congratulations if you made it here. This is kind of a secret page tucked away underneath Intro to Creative Writing. When I first heard this song I was mesmerized even though I do not speak French. Fortunately the song was background music in a movie and I eagerly watched the credits to discover who the artist singing this amazing song was. People have asked me why I like the song so much if I do not speak French. The answer is that this song evokes images of life, love, heartache, sorrow, perseverance and joy when I hear it. Zaz's style, tone of voice, the sad sounding melody all intrigue me, sparking my imagination to take me to a new world where people struggle to find love and happiness in their lives the same way we do. Not speaking French gives me the luxury of thinking that these imaginary people made it and that everything will be all right for them. That everything will be all right for us.
If you do not speak French and you are dying to know what Zaz is singing about in Eblouie Par La Nuit, I am including a link to a translation below. You don't have to click it.
